Photography Summer School 2022

It’s been a long time coming but it seems the time has finally come to resume classroom teaching. The Zoom sessions I ran through the lockdowns were well received and I value your support for them all. However there is nothing better than the face to face classroom experience. I’m running some new sessions at St. John’s Church Hall in Keynsham near Bristol starting with some workshops in a July Summer School.

Choose from any of the following:

Composition Techniques – 26th July

Improve the impact of your images with better composition techniques. When it comes to composition, there are universally accepted guidelines we can use to improve photos. In this workshop, we’ll look at basic composition like the rule of thirds, perspective, leading lines, depth, and framing to create stronger, more visually interesting pictures. This will also help you think critically about your photographs.

Explore Monochrome – 27th July

Learn how to see the world in black & white before you even pick up your camera. You don’t need to have the latest equipment, expensive props, or  extravagant locations to master black & white photography. This workshop will teach you how to take great photos of a variety of subjects including portraits and street photography. We’ll look at lighting, texture, shadow, patterns and composition

Embrace the Rain – 28th July

As you know it rains quite a lot in the UK. This workshop will show you ways to get the best out of the bad weather and what subjects to look for. Learn to use the drama provided by the weather – stormy skies, reflections, people with umbrellas, shots through shop windows to name but a few – they all add interest to landscape images. Graham will also give you tips – where to stand, how to protect your camera etc

Get to Grips with Instagram – 29th July

The secret power of social marketing revealed. Instagram can be a great platform for sharing and viewing memories with family and friends, content from your favourite public figures, and interesting products of businesses around the world. Your presence on Instagram can be as public as you would like. Learn the secrets to Instagram in this workshop

“We found it very relaxing to wander around under your guidance, taking in the history of Bristol and looking for suitable subjects, hidden corners and different angles to photograph.”
