Join us for another leisurely walk around Wells – the smallest City in the country. Your ShutterBugs tutor Graham will help you navigate your way around your camera and capture some beautiful images of this fabulous City. The street lights around Vicars Close and from within the Cathedral at twilight make for some fabulous photo opportunities.
Probably the finest national example of early English architecture, Wells Cathedral was largely built between the 12th and 14th centuries. The Cathedral is famed for its magnificent West Front, featuring over 300 statues and carvings; the inverted scissor arches of the nave, and one of the oldest working mechanical clocks.
The wells, which gave the city its name, are located within the grounds of the Bishop’s Palace, which is still the residence of Bishops of Bath and Wells. The Bishops Palace main features are a 13th-century Undercroft, imposing staterooms and tranquil gardens surrounded by a moat.
